Woodstock Transfer Station

Location: Paine District Road. The Woodstock Transfer Station is open to Woodstock residents, businesses and property owners only. A permit is required for entry - stickers are available from the Town Clerk's Office at the Town Hall.
The Transfer Station Attendant will assess incoming loads for determination of applicable fees. This includes pickup truck and trailer loads.
OPEN 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday |

BULKY WASTE -
household waste such as mattresses/box springs,
oversized municipal waste, insulation, agricultural plastic sheeting, large
toys, sleeper-sofas (remove springs), carpet, shingles, sheet rock, couches
and stuff chairs. NO garbage,
recyclable scrap metal, paint or household hazardous waste. There are
special permit fees for some items/loads

Take it or leave it
(swap) shed - useable items ONLY. NO
computers or televisions, nothing broken, no clothing.

SCRAP METAL- Barbecues, water heaters, old lawn mowers, iron
piping, motors, stoves, metal furniture, washers, dryers. NO propane
canisters.

TIRES - car, bicycle, motorcycle
and truck tires
|
NEWSPAPER -
including advertising supplements, TV guides, paperback books. Tie into
bundles or place in a brown grocery bag for easy handling. No plastic bags.

STYROFOAM- no recycling outlet currently available
|
| TV, Computer Monitors, CPUs - recycled in designated storage trail (special
fee applies) |
CARDBOARD - corrugated cardboard (has waxy inner liner), unwaxed household cardboard
such as cereal or food boxes without liners (no pizza boxes) cracker boxes, paper towel rolls,
beer boxes, toilet paper rolls shoe boxes, beverage cartons. |

JUNK MAIL, MAGAZINES- school papers, catalogs (window envelopes may be included), Tie into
bundles or place in a brown grocery bag for easy handling. No plastic bags.

SCRAP
APPLIANCES - (special fee applies) "White goods"
such as refrigerators, air conditioners, dehumidifiers containing freon.
Doors must be removed. Staged next to office. Check on CL&P
recycling program (pick up and pay) for working appliances. |
TIN
CANS AND METAL FOOD CONTAINERS- Clean steel/aluminum cans, aluminum food trays, aluminum foil, empty
aerosol cans, empty paint and varnish cans. Rinse cans well. Lids may
be left attached. Metal caps and aerosol cans are okay.

BROWN
AND GREEN GLASS- food and beverage containers. Also tinted glass
(wine bottles and blue bottles). No window panes or mirrors. |
CLEAR GLASS - food and
beverage containers. No window panes. <

Fee for couch/stuffed chair, mattress/box spring,
TV/computer monitor, tires, and appliances containing freon
|
USED CLOTHING - (drop off box). Place in plastic bags, please tie pairs of shoes
together. Do not leave clothing outside of drop off box. |
MILK JUGS - Rinse well ( no sour milk!). Remove and discard colored tops. Please
stomp on milk jugs to save space. NO plastic bags, Clear Pet #1 plastic
containers or colored #2 HDPE. |
LEAD ACID BATTERIES - car, boat, tractor, rechargeable batteries. Cracked and uncapped batteries NOT accepted.
Household (alkaline-flashlight) batteries can be discarded with normal
household trash.

| JUICE CARTONS - rinse well and flatten |
COLORED HDPE # 2 PLASTIC - milk jugs, colored detergent bottles with HDPE # 2 on bottom, fabric softener
bottles, bleach, etc. Rinse well and remove and discard tops. No plastic
toys, 5 gallon plastic buckets, laundry baskets or motor oil containers.
No plastic motor oil bottles

USED ANTIFREEZE |
PROHIBITED ITEMS: Household hazardous waste (wait for a NECRRA collection day), vehicle bodies,
explosives, chemicals, hot ashes or other volatile materials, liquid or
semi-solid waste, wood or brush exceeding 3" in diameter,
stumps, asbestos, stones, boulders, cinder blocks, concrete, dead animals,
vermin, or closed drums or barrels |
WASTE OIL - motor oil, brake fluid, automatic transmission fluid, used oil from internal
combustion engines. No gasoline or paint-related products.
